What is body sugaring?
Sugaring is a natural hair removal method that uses a body-temperature paste of sugar, lemon juice, and water. The paste bonds to hair, not to living skin cells, so it removes hair gently in the direction it grows. The result: smoother skin, fewer ingrown hairs, and finer regrowth over time.
At Bare&Sol Stone Oak, sugaring is the only thing we do. Every esthetician in our studio is trained specifically in sugaring technique. We are not a wax studio. We are not a med spa. Sugaring is the focus.

What to expect at your first sugaring appointment
Before.
Skin should be clean and free of lotion or oil. Hair should be at least one-sixteenth of an inch, about the length of a grain of rice. That is shorter than waxing requires, and much shorter than most people think.
During.
Your esthetician applies the sugar paste at body temperature and removes it in the direction your hair grows. The first time can feel sharp. Most clients say it is significantly easier than waxing.
After.
Skin may be pink for a few hours. Avoid hot showers, heavy sweating, and tight clothing for twenty-four hours. We will give you a written aftercare card to take home.

What is sugaring?

How is sugaring different from waxing?
Sugar paste bonds only to hair. Wax bonds to hair and to living skin. That difference means less pulling on living skin, fewer broken hairs, and less pain. Sugaring is also applied at body temperature, so there is no burn risk.
Does sugaring hurt?
There is sensation, especially on the first visit. Most clients say it is significantly more tolerable than waxing. The paste does not pull on living skin, and removal goes in the natural direction of hair growth, which reduces the sting.
How long does sugaring last?
Most clients see smooth skin for three to four weeks. With regular sugaring, hair grows back finer and sparser, and some clients see permanent reduction over time.
How long does my hair need to be for sugaring?
About one-sixteenth of an inch, roughly the length of a grain of rice. This is shorter than waxing requires.
Does sugaring help with ingrown hairs?
Yes. Because sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth instead of against it, ingrown hairs are far less common. The exfoliating effect of the paste also helps.

How long is a typical sugaring appointment?
Brazilian is typically thirty minutes. Smaller services like brow or lip are fifteen minutes or less. Full leg or back can run forty-five minutes to an hour.
Do you offer a sugaring membership?
Yes. Members save on monthly sugaring and get priority booking. Ask at your first visit and we will walk you through the membership options.
